In case you’re wondering WTF a Loan Guide is, it’s kind of like a loan officer — except nothing like one at all.

How so?

You’ve got the customer’s back and you’re taking the weight off their shoulders, so they can enjoy the good stuff.

You’re their guardian angel from application until approval, then you guide them as they choose and confirm the loan they want. From there, you’ll tag in the Closing Loan Guide, who navigates them every step of the way, right up until closing day.

As with all members of the Beeline team, the main goal is making it a smooth ride and helping them meet their objectives, so they can celebrate the fun of moving into a new place, or feeling financially lighter after a refi.

It’s all about the relationship you have with the customer and filling their headspace with a sense of peace and removing the stress and uncertainty. It’s not a transactional relationship. You don’t see the customer as a walking commission check. It’s not about you. It’s about them and the loan is really just a conduit to their outcome of the thrill of a new house or the freedom of a refi.

As an Approvals Loan Guide, that relationship could be a couple of days or a couple of weeks.

Your first objective is to evangelize Beeline.

You must be able to enthusiastically express the advantages and state of mind someone enjoys and educate them about how Beeline works v other stodgy alternatives.

Such conversations whether they were over voice, email, chat or text would cover such topics as how our application works, the strength of our purchase ready approval compared to a typical pre-approval and why a normal pre-approval is weaker because it doesn’t use real data. How much more confident someone can feel negotiating with it v the old fashioned unverified pre-approval they can get elsewhere. How we can get our rates so low etc etc.

In many respects, the Approvals Loan Guide echoes our website and onboarding flow. You’re right there with our customers, side by side, the face of Beeline and a seamless extension of the voice and brand you experience on our site. We can make fancy technology and AI etc (which we do) but Loan Guides must embody our tone and values — informal, approachable, inclusive, yet knowledgeable, responsive and playful.

Your second objective is to support those who create an account and help them, if they need it, to complete the profile and be approved, and enjoy the certainty of a Beeline purchase ready approval or re-fi ready approval, which they can get in minutes and not days.

Because of our radically new way to apply, plenty of people create their account and get a Purchase or Refi Ready Approval without talking to anyone — but even for them, there’s a sense of peace in knowing you’re there if they need you.

For others, they’ll need guidance through the interface and they may break it up into a few sessions instead of doing it wire to wire in 15-20 minutes.

Either way, the Approvals Loan Guide must be intimately familiar with all of the screens and the customer journeys which can differ between a refi v purchase or a co-borrower v single applicant.

Finally your third objective is to help them choose and confirm the right loan for them.

Once they have their Purchase or Refi Ready Approval, you listen well and establish their objectives, and answer questions about rates and payments and terms and fees etc which are scary for most people. You’ll do so in an approachable, empathetic way and help them feel comfortable with their choice and the next steps.

Once the customer is 100% happy with their loan and they’ve locked it in, your job is done. It’s time to tag in the Closing Loan Guide who helps them all the way to close.

If you create a great relationship with them and support their application, approval and loan choice, once they are introduced to the closing Loan Guide, it’ll be a breeze. They’ll be more likely to continue their journey and have a great Beeline experience end to end, all the way to closing. Your role in that is crucial.


The traits we’re looking for in a Beeline Approvals Loan Guide

  • Emotional intelligence and empathy.
  • Great communicator in multiple channels.
  • Ability to multitask and be comfortable at high pace.
  • Able to focus on the present moment.
  • Be well organized and clear thinking.
  • Be quick on your feet and able to keep calm and solve unforeseen problems.
  • You’re more warm and less slick and polished.
  • Great math, written and spoken skills. What’s 12 squared? If you need a calculator then it’s not looking good for you. ‘They’re’ or their’ — you’ll need to know the difference.
  • We like it if you have hospitality experience. It means you’re responsive, can multitask and juggle things and indicates that you’re warm and nice!
  • You’re tech savvy and progressive, so you can learn our CRM instead of some old school pipeline report. You understand the massive difference between our product and those you’re familiar with. You don’t wig out with tech — you’re at home with it.
  • A working proficiency in home loans and know your way around a loan estimate and the conversations around them.


How you're paid

You’ll have a solid base with a variable component aligned with what the customer wants — responsiveness and a great and satisfying experience (yes we measure these things). That way, you’ll be side by side with the customer instead of getting all transactional on their ass. They don’t want that. Do you like pushy sales people?

One other thing, you’ll like the ratio of base to variable. We need people to be strongly incentivized to deliver ‘WOW — word of mouth worthy’ customer experience, but not feel like they’re living hand to mouth. So that’s another way we’re flying in the face of the rest of the industry.
